Today was Cael's last day of kindergarten and I almost shed a tear watching him run in today. I can't believe he is old enough to go ALL DAY to school. Uggh I wish I could just freeze his growth. They had scheduled to have a water day, but Utah still thinks it's winter so they resorted to playing with bubbles inside. What ever that means??? Cael had a great time and was excited when his friend Wesley invited him to go to the movie Kung Fu Panda 2 that night after his ball game. It felt so weird dropping him off with his friends. I probably embarrassed him by reminding him a million times to thanks Wesley's mom, making him go to the bathroom, and then kissing him before I left. Anyway, he had a great time watching the movie with his buddies Wesley Nielsen, Jimmy Rosenbeck, Jacob Eldridge, & Taylor Cowan. These guys have been best buddies this year and I hope Cael gets in a class with one of them next year. Welcome Summer!!!Thursday, May 26, 2011

Kensie's first Dance Revue...
It has been such a crazy week and to top it off Cael started in with the stomach flu. I was worried sick that Kensie was going to get it and not be able to dance in her first recital. My Mom took her for the day to try and keep her healthy, but sure enough she threw up the night before. Cael had only threw up twice and then just complained of stomach pains for a couple of hours and then was fine. Luckily Kensie was the same and only threw-up once at about 10 pm. I gave her some Tylenol to help with her stomach pains so she could sleep through the night and when she woke up she was fine!!! Yahoo. We went and had Amy Stevenson do her hair like a little princess and then headed over to the review. She danced in the first session that was at 5:00 which was awesome because she wasn't tired and ornery. When we got there she started to get nervous with all the people. She wouldn't let me put her down and kind of threw a fit when I took her to get her pictures done. I told her that Lisa wouldn't let her dance if she didn't get her picture taken and she was fine for the rest of the night.

She had a crazy curl on the top of her head that kept coming in front of her face. It was all I could do not to go up on stage and fix it. Kensie kept combing it over with her hand, but next year I need to remember to pin some of it back.

Cael had his awards assembly today where they gave each kid a special award. They were all recognized for something they were known for in the class. Best handwriting, Most energetic, Best story teller, Good friend, Best Math skills, and so on. I was assuming Cael would get something like Best arm-pit fart or something silly, but he made me proud and was given the Best Manners Award. I know some people would beg to differ especially my neighbor to the north who gets to hear me yell at him on a daily basis. Mrs. Robison said he is always patient and courteous to everyone in class. Always helpful and follows direction when asked. She must have forgotten about the first of the year when he talked back to her and flames shot out of my eyes. That beating must have paid off. I was so proud of him. I think this was the best award he could have recieved. He has done well academically, but I can tell it doesn't come easy to him and he has to work hard. In my mind he doesn't have to test the highest to be the best student. If he is willing to work hard and be a good student in class then that's all that matters. Good job Homer...We love you!

Kindergarten Graduation....
Cael officially survived a whole year of kindergarten and loved every minute. He has loved Mrs. Robison and she has been so good for him. For their graduation this year they themed it around nursery rhymes. I offered to help so I have been going to the school for the past couple of weeks working with Cael's group. We were assigned the song "Rags the dog". I had never heard it before, but the kids loved it. I worked with some other moms planning their dance and costumes. It turned out really cute.

He eats so much that his tummy sags.
His ears flip-flop, and his tail wig-wags,
and when he walks he walks zig-zag.
He goes flip-flop, wig-wag, zig-zag. He goes flip-flop, wig-wag, zig-zag. He goes flip-flop, wig-wag, zig-zag. I love rags and he loves me.
My dog Rags, he loves to play. He rolls around in the mud all day. I call him...he doesn't obey. He always runs the other way.
He goes flip-flop, wig-wag, zig-zag. He goes flip-flop, wig-wag, zig-zag. He goes flip-flop, wig-wag, zig-zag. I love rags and he loves me.

Father & Sons...
Casey, Cael, & the blackett boys spent the night up Nephi Canyon with our ward. Casey said they had a good time and Cael was so excited that he got to have a sleep over with Cooper & Braxten. He has been having separation anxiety since they moved.

First field trip...
I have to admit that I wasn't really excited about going to the Zoo. I didn't say anything to Cael about going until he came home from school last Thursday and told me that his teacher needed to know if I was driving up or riding the bus. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I didn't want to go so I signed up to ride the bus and I'm so glad that I did. We had the best time and I enjoyed being able to spend the day with just him. He is growing up so fast and I need to take advantage of these opportunities as much as I can. The bus ride went by really fast and I had a fun visit with all the other mom's. There were also a lot of Dad's that went and it reminded me of the field trips my dad went on with us. He was always the favorite chaperon because of his fanny pack filled with treats. Cael had fun on the bus playing with his friends and didn't complain about the drive. My kids are actually really good in the car. When we got in the park everyone went their separate ways and I asked Cael if he wanted to go find some of his friends. He said No, I want to go see the owls. I was surprised that he didn't care what his friends were doing and was content with just being with me. I wish I could keep him this age forever, I love that he's not too cool to spend time with me. Unfortunately they are doing a lot of construction and the bird exhibit was closed. It will be fun to go in a couple of years and see all the new things that they are adding.
