Roller Skating Party..

At the first of the school year Cael was invited to a birthday party and ever since he has been on the count-down for when he could have one. I couldn't decided what to do or who to invite. My Aunt Karen gave me the idea of renting the old skating ring and it worked out perfectly! We decided to invite his whole class and I'm glad that I did because when I took the invites to class to pass out his teacher gave me a concerned look and asked if we were inviting the whole class. I told her yes and she said good because the day before pure chaos broke out when some of the kids didn't think they were going to be invited. I guess I should have passed out the invites on his actual birthday, because some of the kids assumed we were having it that night. Anyway...lesson learned. The kids were out of school on Friday so we scheduled the Old Gym for noon. Casey was working so I was very thankful when my family showed up to help. I totally underestimated entertaining 20 kids for an hour. I think everybody had a good time skating and running around. We then had Capri-suns & cookies while Cael opened his gifts.

Cael's Inter-league match..

I had to laugh at this picture he's smiling like a true JOCK!

Tonight was Caels first offical wrestling match. Last year we chose not to put him in any tournaments and just let him get use to the sport. This match was actually an inter-league match against the other boys on the Juab team. He's catching on quick, but he is in the heaviest bracket of the Pre-K. He weighed in at 56 lbs which matched him up with a first grader Dakota Lynn and Will Harmon, who is also in Kindergarten, but has been wrestling for a couple of years. He most likely will end up wrestling kids older than him, which in some ways could be good for him because he will have to learn how to wrestle kids with experience. I was so proud of him and with every match I could see him getting more aggressive. His first real tournament will be this Saturday so we'll see how well he does against kids from around the state.

Cael's birthday 01/11/11...lots of ones..

Happy Birthday Cael!!! The last 6 years have been the best years of my life because you have been in it. We love you very much!

His birthday landed on a Tuesday so we wasn't able to celebrate until the weekend, but we tried to still make it a special day. We gave him the Harry Potter Lego game for his DS. During school I took some Little Debbie Zebra Cakes for his class. He also went to wrestling practice that night and then we took him out to eat at his favorite Tomatilla.

Introducing the new.....

Mr & Mrs. Chad Jarrett! The day finally came and my baby brother got married. Chad & Jessica have been dating for a couple of years and we love her to pieces. We are so excited for them.

First day of primary...

My baby is now a big girl and is old enough to be a Sun Beam. Today was her first day of Primary and it turned out to be mine too. For the last couple of years I have had a calling in the Relief Society being over the monthly activities. It is a creatively draining calling and I was finding myself feeling burned out and wanting a change. The second week of December we were getting ready for church when I got a call asking if we could meet with the bishop after Sacrament meeting. They had recently released the Activity Chairman and I thought for sure that they were going to call us to take their place. I did the happy dance and told Casey we were getting new callings. He's been the Deacon Advisor for years, but was not happy about getting released. On the way to church Casey said I don't think I'm getting released I think you're getting a big calling. I told him to not say such things and that it had to be the Activity calling. After sacrament meeting we went right to the bishops office and waited to meet with him. Ondi Williamson the 2ND counselor came in with a silly grin on his face while rubbing his hands together said "are you nervous?". I told him no, but Casey was upset about being released from scouts. He then informed me that Casey wasn't getting released and in fact he was only there for my support. My stomach dropped and I felt like jumping out the window. When the bishop made it in I asked if he had called us in because we hadn't got him his neighbor gift yet. We all got a big laugh and he continued with telling us that there were some changes coming in the ward. He said after much praying and discussion that they wanted to call me to Primary President. I think I swore when he said the words (is that a bad first impression?). I asked if he was serious and Casey just burst out laughing! They told me that they had made several lists and my name just kept coming to them. I've never felt more inadequate. I accepted and told them I would try, but I wasn't promising anything. My kids were thrilled when I told them and i'm excited for the new challenge. I have an amazing group of girls helping me, Avalon Park first counselor, Mandee Robison second counselor, and Natalie Jones Sec. They were all so excited and I hope we can keep a fun energy going.

New Years Day 2011...

The past couple of years we've spent New Years Day at the farm sledding. We had Yummy Navajo Tacos this year for lunch and kids sledded as long as we would let them. This year the kids have been obsessed with sledding and can't seem to get enough.

Kensie crashed and burned and took some skin off her cheek, but it wasn't nothing some cake & ice cream couldn't fix.

The night before I had noticed that Kensie's nose was really stuffy. She was taking a nap on the couch and I could hear her breathing clear in the kitchen. She's been fighting a cold so I didn't think too much about it. Today she woke up with the same thing. I put my finger up there to make sure that nothing was up there and continued on with my day. Later that night we went down to Casey's moms house and she too commented on Kensie's whistling nose. Linda lifted up her nose and noticed something up there. I went over and looked and sure enough I could see something pink. We held her down and with some tweezers I was able to pull out a Polly Pocket Ice skate out of her nose. It looked HUGE coming out of such a little nose. We couldn't believe she had got it up that far. Luckily it's made of rubber so it was easy to get out. I'm telling ya, she is the best birth control ever!

Bring in the new year....

Once again we had a fabulous night welcoming in the new year. We tried to figure how long we have been doing this with Eric & Jen and I think we agreed that this was our 10th year in a row (except for the year they were building their house). They are the best of friends and we love spending time with them. Over the years Nikki & Wyatt have join the night and this year Chris & Jakoye also joined us. We always have a good time and we spent most of the night eating and playing phase 10. The kids had fun running around and Kensie put on a fashion show. That girl loves to play dress-up especially when other little girls are over. We love having everyone over and I hope it's a tradition that we can continue for years and years to come!
