Cael's 8th birthday

It's great to be Eight.....unless you're the mother and don't want to see your blue eyed boy grow up.  We are so proud of Cael and the person he is becoming.  He is my right hand man and always willing to help.  He wanted to do something fun with his friends after school, but a big storm was coming in and i didn't feel comfortable taking friends up north in a blizzard.  There really wasn't a good movie playing at the theater in Nephi either, so he settled having a dinner date with just us and then a trip to Toys R Us.  He chose dinner at Cafe Rio and then picked out some Beyblades and a stadium to battle them in.  He was concerned about when he would be able to open his presents since he wouldn't be having his family birthday dinner until his baptism on Feb 2.  He made sure that the Grandparents knew it was ok to bring his present on his birthday instead of waiting until his party so when we got home from up north they all came over and let him open his present.  G & G Smith gave him more Beyblades and church clothes and G & G Jarrrett a BYU blanket.  He said it was the best Birthday Ever!

A few things about our Eight Year Old

Loves BYU and sports.  He gets up every morning and watches NFL-AM before heading to school.  Loves to wrestle and has improved so much this year.  He is looking forward to baseball in the spring.

Obsessed with Pokemon Card and would rather just collect and organize them rather than "battle" and risk losing some.  Casey said he's a Reid Jr and is not satisfied until he has collected all of them.  He watches the Pokémon series on Tv along with the Beyblade series.

He loves School and is testing above average in all things.  At the last teacher parent Mrs. Stevens said he has already met the requirements for the year and gets 100% on almost all his work.  He went through a phase of loving to read and then the last couple weeks it's been a fight.  He's like his mother and is too fidgety to sit that long.  I hope he continues to excel in school since we all know Kensie is going to cause some gray hairs.

 

He makes friends so easy and plays with someone different daily.  Some days at recess he plays Pokemon and then the next its sports.  He seems to be more of a leader and does what he wants.  This can be a bad thing when it causes fights with his parents, but I'm glad he stands up for himself and doesn't just do what others want him too.  Him and Cooper are inseparable to the point that they can spend all day together and Cael will come home for 10 minutes and ask if he can go back.

 

He loves to make his sister scream.  It's not a normal day at the Smith House without Kensie yelling "stop it Tael!"  When I ask him why, his only answer is that it's fun.
