South Sevier Wrestling Tourney 2012....

We decided at the last minute to take the boys to Monroe on Saturday morning for the South Sevier Tournament. We had got home late from Delta and had to leave around 7:00am the next morning. I was questioning our decision when the alarm went off, but was glad we had decided to take them. Cael had another great tournament and took first in his bracket. I'm excited to see things starting to click for him and with some more practice I'm sure he is going to be a force to reckon with....

Most the time in these younger age groups they don't count pins and let them go all three rounds. For that reason Cael pinned this kid three times....Go Smitty!

We're Number 1!!!

Delta Wrestling Tournament 2012......

After last years season I really didn't know if Cael would want to wrestle this year. He didn't seem to enjoy it last year and would rarely get aggressive. He would mostly just smile and really didn't care if he won. At times I would get frustrated because I felt like he wasn't giving it his all and seemed burned out. We decided to give him a break and not do the fall league in hopes he would get bored enough that he would be beggin to go back. After the holidays were over he started asking when it was going to start. He seemed excited when he went to his first practice and surprisingly remembered a lot of the moves from last year (even though he never used them last year?) He had two practices before we headed to his first tournament in Delta. I didn't get my hopes up cause last year he wrestled some tough kids. To my surprise he turned into an animal during his first match. I was shocked at how well he did and won by several points. His next match was against a Delta kid and I knew it would be tough, but Cael worked his butt off and only lost by a few points. I was so proud of how hard he tried. His last match he pinned the kids right off and was pretty excited to have two wins under his belt! I have noticed a huge change in him this year and I think playing sports at recess has really helped him be more aggressive & competitive. gO Juab!

A day at the dentist....

Today I took the morning off work to take Cael to get his tooth fixed. We seem to frequent the dentist office and at first my kids would pretty much fight the whole time...not fun! As they have gotten older they have overcome their fears and will now cooperate without being forced. Cael needed a cap and I know was uncomfortable at times, but he was a real trooper and did great! After getting home and Cael back to school it was time to take Kensie on her field trip....and you guessed it....to the dentist. Now after just watching Cael get his mouth drilled she wasn't so sure about the field trip, but after I explained to her that she wasn't getting her teeth worked on she consented to go. I think she had fun, but refused to ride in the chair. She came right home and used her new toothbrush and floss. I thought we were done for a while until I picked up the mail after getting home and noticed the appt card for their next dentist check-up. It never ends...

Terrific kid....

Today was a proud momma day....Cael received the Terrific Kid award at school. The Kiwanis club selects one kid from each class that has shown good citizenship and positive attitude to recognize. He had a grin from ear to ear....so sweet! Keep up the good work!

I'm trying to figure out my new Iphone camera so this pic uploaded blurry. Hopefully I can get him to pose again for a re-take!

The day of love....

Well I officially slacked on Valentines this year. I had bought the kids Valentines a month before and that's about all I got around to doing! The kids had school and I worked late so we decided to door bell ditch the kids that morning before leaving for the day. Unfortunately I didn't take a pic of the ditching, but we did get it on video. Kensie got an outfit and a la la loopsy and Cael scored some Batman Legos. Casey made me a card, which I loved, and had one rose to go with it. He is actually getting some pretty good scrappin skills. We love to keep it simple. I gave him a kiss......this is where the slacking comes in.

State Drill 2012.....

We spent the day watching Kalee compete in her last Drill Team competition. I love to go to these, but unfortunately between family stuff and church stuff I was only able to make it to the last couple. They had an awesome group of girls this year and had placed really well all season. They ended up taking 5th overall out of over 20 teams!!!! Go Juab!!!

Excuse this pic of me.....it had been a long day!

Military 3rd Place....

Dance 7th place, but should have been higher. Their music stopped about half way through and they finished the rest of the dance without it and didn't miss a beat! It was so impressive that they received a standing ovation.

Character 5th place....They had placed 1st all season!

The big 30!!!

The dreaded day came to leave my 20's and cross over into the next chapter of my life. This was a day I was not looking forward too. Not because I felt like I was going to be considered old, but more the reminder of how fast my life is going by. 30 always felt so far away and with a blink of an eye it's here. I have always struggled with change and would prefer for things to always stay the same. As I look back on my 20's I realized my life has changed in almost every way. I went from single to married, from DINK (dual income no kids as Dr. Clegg would say) to having 2 kids, from living at home to owning my own, from spending my Sundays at home to being active in church, and most importantly from blond to brunette. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm a completely different person today than I was 10 years ago. I hope for the better, but unfortunately I have made many mistakes and have many regrets that I hope to continue to learn from. I have been faced with many trials, mostly emotional, and I feel stronger today because of them. Life is a challenge filled with stress, disappointment, grief, and feelings we can't always control, but I'm doing my best to look at the positive and enjoy every moment. I want to be a better person and a good example to my kids. I'm so thankful for my Saviors example and his love for me. I'm most grateful for this thing we call "LiFE" and hope to improve mine during the next 10 years!

Now on to the festivities. My fabulous family and co-workers threw me a surprise lunch party at work. Wednesday was my last day at work for the week and I had a meeting upstairs in the morning. We got out of the meeting around noon so the presenters brought in pizza for us. As I headed back to get a piece Deann and Jenna told me to wait because we were going to go back to the office and tell everyone there was pizza and then walk back with them. On the way back to my desk I kept thinking why are we walking down stairs to just turnaround and walk right back up. Did they not notice I was wearing heels? It didn't even cross my mind until I walked in and saw all the balloons! They said I turned red and was shocked to see all my girls! It turned out they had been planning it for weeks and I had been oblivious. Nikki had brought my favorite sour dough sandwiches, My mom did soup, and Tah Tah drove to Springville to pick up my favorite cupcakes from her cousin. My work girls did the decorating and Sherra told me later she had to smuggle balloons in that morning without me knowing. How lucky am I to be surrounded by such fabulous family and friends? Thank you to everyone who made my 30th one to remember and Thank you to the best sister for putting it all together!

The surprise and yes my mom even remembered her camera

I love Deann's face in this pic!

The best Family...

Me & JoAnne have the same birthday and have celebrated together for 12 years. This was our last thought since she's retiring in a couple of weeks so I had to get a pic...

My actual birthday was on Saturday and I didn't do too much during the day. That night we went to Los Amigos with Brady & Tenille for dinner and grocery shopping....How old are we? We always have a good time with them and I'm glad they joined us to Celebrate!
