Easter Weekend 2013...

Easter at the Sand dunes has been a life long tradition for Casey and my kids (well and me for the last 15 years).  Last year we didn't end up pulling the trailer out because of the weather and my Grandpa's health taking a turn, so we were over due for our sand fix.  The weather was beautiful all weekend and we all had a blast.  Kensie was fighting a little sick bug all weekend and at times just wanted to lay in the trailer and watch tinkerbell, but besides that the weekend was perfect.  We also got to finally sleep in our new trailer.  Yes after 10 years the Golden Falcon went to a new home and we were able to buy Gary and Linda's fifth wheel.  I loved the golden falcon, but I must say the new fifth wheel is heaven.

Color we eggs....

Since the day we had brought the coloring kits home Kensie had been after me to "Color we eggs!"  I held her off until the Sunday before and so after church we got the water boiling.  Kensie had picked out a glitter kit and Cael a golden one.  I was not allowed to help and they both insisted on doing it all by themselves.  They did a great job and couldn't wait to take them out camping with us.  It was nice to not have Kensie nagging me to color eggs anymore, but it didn't last long she then decided the trailer needed to be packed.  Funny girl!

Freestyle Wrestling 2013...

For the first time in several years the Juab Wrestling clud decided to participate in the Spring Freestyle wrestling instead of the Bantam Folkstyle league.  This made it to where the boys would have a chance to wrestle all three styles, Greco, Freestyle and Folkstyle plus the competition is tough and Cael would average about 8-9 matches in just a couple of hours.  The rules are different for each style and it keeps the boys thinking while making them smarter wrestlers.  There were also a few boys from our club that decided to join Champions Wrestling Club out of Mapleton.  Between the two clubs they would practice Tues-Thurs and then have tournament Fri night (Greco) and then Saturday morning Freestyle/Folkstyle.  Cael was nervous(of coarse) about learning the new styles especially Greco which is all upper body and throws.  We went to 4 Saturday tournaments and 1 Greco during the month.  During the Juab tournament Cael had a bad day and left in tears.  He had stopped by the snack shack to tell me he was done and didn't want to wrestle anymore.  That's when one of his friends from Champions, Josh Beisinger, that he had also wrestled that day came up and told him he would see him at practice.  Cael's attitude completely changed and decided he would keep wrestling.  Him and Josh have become good friends and we also had a chance to get to know his family.  We really have met some amazing people through wrestling.  The next weekend we went to Orem and Cael was a completely different wrestlers.  He didn't get pinned once and gave all his opponent a run and ended the tournament placing 3rd and 2nd and most of all left with a smile.  We had things going on the next two weekend and then the last two tourney were in Layton and Bountiful.  With baseball starting we decided it would be a good time to end the season especially since Cael was feeling pretty good about it.  He is becoming a great wrestler and I can't wait to see him continue to progress.

Pinewood Derby 2013...

I don't know who was more excited for the Pinewood derby..Casey, Cael or Grandpa Gary.  After weeks of planning, painting, bondo, melting weights, and adjusting tires the night finally came.  Cael entered cub scouts in January, but because of his wrestling practice schedule had not been able to go to any meeting and didn't really know what to expect.  Casey being a past Utah State Pinewood derby champion took the car very serious and tried to prep Cael the best he could.  The night before we stopped by my cousin Tyson's to use some of his derby tools to make sure everything was set perfect.  

We got there a little early so Casey could put some last minute graphite on the tires.  They started out by handing out the badges the boys had earned over the last couple of months and then it was time to race.  Cael's first race was against Tryker Greenhalgh and after a couple runs it was determined that Cael had won the heat.  The rundown track they were using I swear was built by Brigham Young and looked 150 years old.  This made it so that each car had to run several heats before they could get both cars to stay on the track.  From the looks of it Cael's was rubbing on the front and the one lane didn't fit together, but we made it through.  In the end Cael took 2nd with Dallin Ludlow taking first and Tryker Greenhalgh winning 3rd.  Most of all Cael had a blast and is looking forward to some good times in scouts.

They also had people vote on their favorite car.  Cael's had turned out nice with his BYU Colors he also chose to be number 3 because it was his baseball number and also was his dad's number on his pinewood derby car.

I was just getting ready to go home from work when Sandra called and said she had tickets to the BYU vs USU game that night.  I couldn't pass up the good seats and I knew Cael would be excited.  We took the Ute loving Blackett boys with us which made it a fun rivalry game with them cheering on USU and us cheering on BYU.  The best part was BYU pulling out a win in the last few seconds of the game.

These two are best friends even though they cheer for different teams.

During half time they honored all the BYU athletes who had received awards from the NCAA.  Kyle Van Noy received the 2012 College Football Performance Award (CFPA) trophy for overall best defensive player of the year.  We love Van Noy and it was fun to see him receive this award.

Valentines day morning we were doorbell ditched by our Valentine aka the Hottest red head on the block.  I of coarse was a slacker and was thankful Casey made sure we all had something that morning. 

Yes he even made the card that included coupons ((wink wink)).

We managed to throw Kensie's Valentine's box together the night before and i thought it turned out pretty dang cute!

Unfortunately Meghan was admitted to the Hospital with Pneumonia so Casey was home for the day.  I was so glad he was able to help me with Cael's class party.  We made heart sun catchers out of tissue paper and contact paper while watching Charlie Brown and eating sugar cookies.  After school we headed up to get groceries so Casey treated us to Kneaders (my new favorite place) before heading home.  It was a great day to spend with the one's I love most!
