Ute Stampede 2013

The highlight of our Summer is always the Ute Stampede!  We love it and enjoy going every night and try to attend all the festivities.  Kensie has begged me all summer to let her have a "Sell" at the end of our street, but I don't feel good about her being out there by herself and with me being 6 months pregnant I haven't been in the mood to sit in the sun all day hoping someone would stop for a Otterpop.  I finally told her that we would do her sell during the parade assuming it would be 120 degrees, but unfortunately it was cold and rainy and so we didn't take them with us.  Our ward was scheduled to work the snack shack on Thursday so my Parents took the kids the first night.

 

We were lucky enough for Eric, Jen, and their kids to join us on Friday night!

It was so fun having the twins there!  Trip loved the rodeo and was laugh and clap at all the events, Krew on the other hand got really upset during the tie down roping and started crying when the calf was caught.  Eric insisted Jen let him hold Krew so he could "Cowboy up"!  We love the Taylor family and hope this tradition continues with them!

I've said before that Kensie is my dare devil child and she proved it once more when she begged to go on the Ferris Wheel.  Luckily Jen was willing to take her since her parents are terrified of this ride!  You can tell by the smile on her face that she loved every minute.

4th of July 2013

We spent the morning at the park for the 4th of July Carnival.  It was hot and luckily went through the games quickly.  That night we had everyone over for dinner and fireworks. 

City League Baseball 2013

Cael technically should have still played coach pitch this year but since he played accelerated fall ball/spring ball we felt like he was ready to move up.  He was really nervous about playing with kids that were 2-3 years older than him, but once the season started he settled right in and did great.  Justin was a great coach and did a lot to help with Cael's confidence.  He had his good and bad games, but for the most part played great.  We would have people stop us all the time to comment on how well he had played and how hard he could throw.  Even though he has a long way to go in perfecting his pitching I have to say he could throw as hard as anybody in the league.  He also had some great hits and would usually get a double or triple every game.  I was so proud of him and the improvements he continues to make every game.

Richfield Tournament 2013

After playing several weeks of Monday night league it was time for our 8u team to take the next step and compete in their first tournament.  They have improved so much since starting the team last year, but we still didn't know what to expect.  There were 9 teams in their bracket and we started playing early Friday morning against a team from Richfield and Roosevelt.  The boys came alive and played well in both games leaving our pool in a three way tie.  The next day they continued to play well and ended up winning the semi-final game against Emery.  It was a great game even though the Umpire had no idea what he was doing.  Now I don't fully understand baseball and I usually keep quiet but when the Ump almost let the Emery coach call the game in the middle of an inning I had to get vocal!  It turns out his dad was running the tournament and obviously had never played.  We were really evenly matched with Emery and the score was close the whole game.  One of their best players was a girl with two long braids and man could she play ball.  Cael pitched to her first and ended up throwing 4 balls.  On the last pitch Tate dropped the ball and before they knew it she was running to 2nd base.  Our boys stood there in shock wondering what she was doing running past 1st on a walk.  They had never had anyone do that on Monday night league and it proved why tournament are essential to playing better.  She kind of flustered Cael but he ended up striking her out the next two times which was the highlight of his weekend.  After winning the semi-finals we played Uintah in the championship and finished 2nd.  Overall it was a great first time tournament.  Go Warriors!
